HI, I’m Ash, and welcome to my little corner of the internet! This blog is my lifelong passion project.
I’m Irish, and as the Irish do, I immigrated when I finished school. I have lived in Japan, Indonesia, Portugal, Germany, and Argentina.
For the last two years, I have been living in Costa Rica with my partner taking care of other people’s homes & pets while they are out of country. I work a full-time corporate job online for a large company. I get a good salary, and I haven’t paid rent in nearly 2 years.
I say this to hopefully inspire you to live an alternative lifestyle. If I can, then I truly believe anyone can. You just cannot be afraid to live life differently to how everyone tells you you should be…
I love to travel – I have lived (6 months +) in Japan, Spain, Portugal, Indonesia, Germany, Costa Rica and now I live in Argentina! Over time, I have learned how to live abroad well and for cheap. Housesitting is my absolute FAVOURITE way to travel, and become part of a community and I will shout about until everyone knows what it is!
I love adventure sports, hiking, climbing, surfing, kayaking, camping and generally being outside. This was something I learned about in my 20s and I thought was un-teachable. Either you were born into scouts or you weren’t. I was TOTALLY wrong. These skills are super learnable at any age and I will prove it to you! My best friendships in the world have been the ones I’ve made through adventure activities.
I love to write. My university degree is in English and translation studies. I have had a book idea in my mind since I was 11 that I am itching to get onto paper.
Finally, the fuel to do all the above: food. Perhaps my greatest passion of all. Food is integral to enjoying your travel experience, it’s a way to connect with people, to connect you to the land around you, and a way to fuel your body to carry you through anything you want to do.
On this blog, you’ll find an ever-expanding treasure trove of adventure travel knowledge, alternative travel guides, budget-friendly tips, and reflections on living life DIFFERENTLY.
